PTK ne NYONG

Peningkatan kemampuan siswa memahami isi bacaan dengan strategi PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) in the third grade of Ngijo 01 elementary school, Gunungpati, Semarang. Based on the early data, which the writer got in SDN Ngijo 01 Gunungpati Semarang, there was a problem in learning Bahasa at third grade of elementary school. The teacher had not used an innovative and students centered strategy in teaching and learning process yet. Most of the students were passive in teaching and learning process which make they got lower grades. Therefore, those class needs some actions to improve the quality in teaching and learning Bahasa. One of the strategies is by using PQ4R strategy. This strategy used in order to know whether by using this strategy could improve students’ ability in understanding texts, students’ activity, and the teacher’s activities in the Bahasa teaching and learning process?
The objective of this study are (1) Improving students’ ability in understanding texts, (2) improving students’ ability in learning, and (3) improving teacher’s activities in the Bahasa teaching and learning process.meningkatkan aktivitas guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia.
The research was done in three cycles. Every cycles consists of four steps; planning, action, observing, and reflection. The data was gathered by using observation sheet, interview, test, and documentation.
The percentage of students’ succeed in the first cycle was 47,8%. The percentage of students activity was 74% which meant they had achieved in criteria B. The teacher activity also achieved in the B criteria. In the second meeting of the first cycle, the percentage of students’ succeed was 60,9%. The students activities was 74% which meant they had achieved in criteria B. The teacher activities was also achieved in criteria B. In the third meeting of the second cycle, students’ succeed percentage was 69,7%. The students activities was 78,3%, criteria B. The teacher activities achieved criteria A. In the fourth activities of second cycle, the percentage of the students’ succeed was 82,6%. The students acticites was 82,6%, criteria B. The teacher activities achieved criteria A. In the fifth meeting of the third cycle, the percentage of students’ succeed was increased became 87%. The students activities was 82,6% , criteria B. The teacher activities achieved criteria A. After being treatments in the third cycle, it could be seen that there was significant improvement on students’ ability, students’ activities, and teacher activities.
The result of the study showed that PQ4R strategy could improve students’ ability in understanding texts in the Bahasa teaching and learning process. The writer suggestion for the teacher is, in order to improve students’ ability, the teacher need to use an innovative teacher and learning strategy. On of strategies that can be used is PQ4R teaching and learning strategy.
